Marquee Event
Women’s Resources is pleased to host an annual Marquee event as one of our main fundraisers. Bringing top rate performers to our local community is one way to say thank you to our generous supporters and donors.
The Marquee Event brings excitement and energy to the community and has raised considerable funds (over $120,000) for Women’s Resources.
Since we began this fundraiser in 2011, we have never looked back…
Our first Marquee was with Arlene Dickinson on International Women’s Day in 2011. The local businesses and media embraced the event with generous sponsorship. The community responded and the show sold out.
Since then performers for the Marquee have included Rick Mercer, Chantal Kreviazuk, The Jim Cuddy Band, Jann Arden and Buffy Sainte Marie, Blue Rodeo and Serena Ryder. Each performer has contributed to our national identity and we have been honored to have them perform for us and our community.

This is the 11th year for Women’s Resources Marquee Event Fundraiser and we are THRILLED to present Jann Arden — a multi-platinum, award-winning singer, songwriter, actor and author.
Earlier this year she released Descendant, her 15th studio album that became an instant hit. It’s wonderful!
Arden’s accolades include 8 JUNO Awards including Female Artist of the Year and Songwriter of the Year, 10 SOCAN Awards and 4 Western Canadian Music Awards to name a few. In 2020, she was in-ducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.
Jann Arden has written five books, the most recent in 2020 being her memoir IF I KNEW THEN: Find-ing Wisdom in Failure and Power in Aging. This followed Arden’s 2017 Canadian best-seller, FEEDING MY MOTHER: Comfort and Laughter in the Kitchen as My Mom Lives with Memory Loss, which spent a combined 44 weeks on The Globe and Mail bestseller lists.
Season 3 of Arden’s CTV hit original comedy series JANN premiered in 2021 and has been incredibly popular. Whether she is captivating audiences with her heartfelt music, entertaining them with her quick wit or sharing her written word in a boldly honest voice – Arden is a Canadian original – a bril-liant multi-dimensional talent.
